The hot trio of Nigeria’s 2Face Idibia, Davido, Ice
Prince, and South Africa’s Professor will be headlining the MTV
Africa All Stars gig holding on 13 April at The Marquee, Federal Palace Hotel,
Lagos.
The gig, put together by The KwaZulu-Natal Province is part of the new
pan-Africa music and youth empowerment campaign that salutes the star quality
and widespread appeal of contemporary African musicians.
Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Viacom
International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa, said MTV Base is delighted to
partner with KwaZulu-Natal to bring the MTV Africa All Stars concept
to Africa and the world. ”MTV Africa All Stars will further establish
KwaZulu-Natal as a world class destination for culture, music and business.
Through engaging live events, television specials and digital
activations, MTV Africa All Stars offers a range of diverse platforms
through which music fans can connect with and experience the extraordinary
talent, variety and craftsmanship of the continent’s most exciting contemporary
musicians,” Okosi said.
The MTV Africa All Stars tour kicked off in Durban, South Africa
on 28 March, before moving on to Nairobi, Kenya on 5 April. It will
culminate with a concert in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, on 18 May
that will be headlined by multi-platinum rapper Snoop Lion,
aka Snoop Dogg.
The rapper will perform alongside the most popular contemporary artists from
across the African continent at Moses Mabhida Stadium, People’s Park,
Durban.
Some of Nigeria’s favourite DJs, DJ Jimmy Jatt, DJ
Caise and DJ Sose have been added to the Lagos leg of
the ultimate urban music tour.
