It is now apparent that military action alone may not be
enough to quickly tackle the insurgents and their backers through military
tactics alone. It is on this premise that I urge the Federal Government to
continue to engage in dialogue with the stakeholders from the North-East
geopolitical zone and the entire Leaders of Thought from the North with a view
to proffering workable and lasting solutions to the insurgency.
The relevant authorities should not only be empowered in
genuine intelligence gathering, they should be commensurably motivated to
enhance their performance. Retired personnel abound in the Army, Police, State
Security Service and others. Their wealth of experience is needed now.
