For assaulting a student of the University of Ilorin, Aleem Suliyat who had a fight with Labaeka's wife, popular Islamic singer, Alhaji Ibrahim Labaeka has been remanded at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura in Ilorin by an Upper Area Court. This incident, which happened on 21st May 2014, started when Suliyat who is Labaeka’s tenant washed her clothes in a part of the house and Zeenat, Labaeka's wife, attacked her for washing there. This led to a misunderstanding and a fight between them.
After the fight, Labaeka stepped in with 5 other men including one Ahmed, and they beat Suliyat to a point she was rushed to Anchor Medical Centre, Tanke, Ilorin, for treatment. Police intervened as Suliyat reported that there were threats to her life. The case was then filed at the magistrate court where Hon. Ahmed Alawaye ruled that Alhaji Ibrahim Labaeka should be remanded in prison pending the ruling so as to avoid committing a similar offence he has before Magistrate M.B. Magaji. The case has been adjourned till Monday, 9th June 2014 for the next hearing.
