SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI FINALLY TURBANNED AS THE NEW EMIR OF KANO!

The new Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has been officially turbanned as the 14th emir of Kano this afternoon by the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso. The turbanning ceremony held at the Africa Hall amidst tight security with Gov. Kwankwaso, state government functionaries, kingmakers, princes, and eminent personalities including Mallam Nasir El-rufai in attendance. The Emir was dressed for the ceremony in the Kano State Government House.

To start off the ceremony, Walin Kano, Mahe Wali gave the opening prayers, while Madaki Kano who is responsible for the formal turbanning spoke shortly after. In his remark, Gov. Kwankwaso said: “The appointment of an emir is not a political issue. It is unfortunate that some enemies of Kano State attempted to politicise this process. The Kano State Government has built a befitting building for the large family of the late emir in Sharada. The keys will be handed over today to the family to move in. HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was not only on the recommended list of the kingmakers but was on top of the list.”

Gov. Kwankwaso then read the full text of the letter of appointment of Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, and handed it over to him after which the princes paid homage to the new Emir one after the other. After the homage, Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi gave his ‘first royal speech’, and the turbanning ceremony was closed with prayers.
