MUSIC STAR, LYNXXX REVEALS NOLLYWOOD ACTRESS HE's CRAZY ABOUT!

10 QUESTIONS FOR LYNXXX!

Chukie Edozien aka Lynxxx is the only son of boardroom guru, and former Deputy Governor of old Bendel State, Chief John D. Edozien. The charming Lynxxx, an award-winning musician, is currently working on his sophomore album, ‘Jollof Musik’. Lynxxx attended Corona Primary School, proceeded to Kings College Lagos for his secondary education and the University of Hull where he obtained a degree in Business, Economics and Marketing. Last week, the GLOBACOM, and Pepsi Ambassador, spoke to an online magazine about his music career, and personal life.

What inspired the stage-name Lynxxx? Do your family members also call you Lynxxx?
More or less, it’s been my every day name for the last 5 years so I guess it has sort of stuck. Only when things are very important or serious that family members call me by my real name. The name Lynxxx came about in high school because I was very connected with “Linking” people up with what they needed. I just flipped the spelling and it stuck, but funny enough, I still have the network to link you with practically whatever you want, so I guess it’s a perfect fit.
Why do you call your kind of music Jollof?
Jollof Musik is good music – variety is the spice of life and I am an artist that is hard to put in a box based on the fact that I love to experiment with sound. Jollof rice requires various spices to make an outstanding dish! Therefore Jollof Musik is an artful blend of genres to make great music.
What are you currently working on?
I am working on finishing my sophomore album “Jollof Musik”. It’s been in the works for 4 years now and it’s drawing to the finishing stages. I’m very happy with the sounds I’m coming up with working with great producers like EKelly, Ikon, Masterkraft to name a few. I have 5 videos and singles lined up to drop monthly leading up to the album release in November. I recently dropped a new single & video “My Place” shot by Kemi Adetiba and it’s everywhere. So if you haven’t seen it, check out your favorite TV stations or log on to www.Syndik8Records.com.
What are the highlights of your music career?
Various memories but a few would have to be 19th December 2010 when I released my debut album “This is Lynxxx” and signed my 1st endorsement deal with Pepsi same day. Another would be performing before over 40,000 people in Ilorin in 2010 for the ‘Nigeria is 50’ concert which featured acts like Akon, D’banj, P-Square and much more. Finally, a recent highlight would be signing another great endorsement deal with telecoms giant GLO in 2013.
How do you feel with the success you’ve had with your music career, and endorsement deals?
It feels rewarding for all the hard work & sleepless nights! Music takes a lot of time, trial and error and finances to make and it’s a great reward when your hard work is successful. But I try not to ever get comfortable but to always be as hungry as I was before any success.
You’ve been romantically linked to Chidinma Ekile, is she your ideal woman? Who is your kind of woman? If you were to be in an elevator alone with a music or movie star, who would it be?
{Laughs}Chidinma is a friend of mine and that’s about it. I think she’s a great person and most importantly an amazing talent with a great voice. When it comes to women, I’m open-minded, I don’t think I have an “ideal kind” of woman but personality goes a long way as well as other complimentary traits. If I was to get trapped in an elevator with someone, it would be Genevieve Nnaji.
At this point in your life, what makes you happiest?
Knowing my family is good, people around me are eating and I can better the lives of myself and others through my music, achievements and success. I love to motivate and encourage people to put their talents to use. We all have something to offer.
How do you cope with female admirers?
I appreciate them all. I have come across all sorts but these experiences either become inspiration for songs, concepts / ideas or just funny memories of the journey but overall, I respect them, it just means I’m doing something right.
What is your greatest indulgence? What is the secret of your good looks?
Working out. I love to exercise. I love to eat healthy and feel good for my personal reasons.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
That I cook.
