The much talked about music reality show, Star The Winner Is, has finally hit TV screens.
The first episode was captivating as contestants went all out to make an impression.
The contestants were hoping to get a place in the semi finals and the grand finale.
The likes of 23-year-old freelance
musician, Sonia Ebhota, Joy Siakpere who sings in restaurants for a
living and Augustine Owviri were on the stage to showcase their talents.
School teacher, Shapeera Makepeace
decided she has other talents up her sleeves as she brought her singing
talents to the fore. Also, Henry Mcjohn and the man of the night, Philip
Otuya who had his first music recording in 2006, engaged in the battle
of the one with the greatest voice.
Indeed, Philip captivated the crowd with
his ‘The way you make me feel’ by Micheal Jackson. As if that was not
enough, he melted the ladies’ hearts with his rendition of ‘Unchained
Melody’ by The Righteous Brothers.
Star The Winner is is a singing showdown
in duels where an unusual 101 jury consisting of music enthusiasts and
specialists vote for the best performer. The contestants must test their
nerves by resisting a cash offer from the host to leave the game for
good or wait for the jury votes to see if they have made it to the next
round and one step closer to the life-changing grand prize of N10m and a
brand new car.
