SURE-P TOPSHOT, CHIKE OKOGWU's WIFE ON HER CRASHED MARRIAGE: "HE SPRAYED FAECES ON ME"!

When Chike Churchill Okogwu and Ebere Okogwu met in Abuja several years ago, they thought they were going to be very compatible as husband and wife. Even when Chike had an accident a few days to their wedding and he was confined to the wheelchair and has since been on wheelchair, they still thought they could make it together, hence their decision to go ahead with their wedding.
All these were disclosed in the petition as well as Respondent’s answer to petition which they have represnted before an Abuja High court hearing their divorce case.  Chike Okogwu, a top shot at SURE-P headquarters in Abuja in his petition requesting the dissolution of the marriage claimed, among other things, that the marriage was conducted in Abuja at the Registry on 9th August, 2009 ‘but since the marriage, the respondent has behaved in such a way that the petitioner could not reasonably be expected to live with her anymore.’
He further stated that she ‘vacated the matrimonial premises as aresult of irreconcilable differences which included fighting, threat to life and more to be consider is that he is physically challenged’.In her reaction to the petition, Chike Okogwu’s estranged wife, Ebere Okogwu, represented by Abuja top women rights advocate, Barrister Esther Uzoma claimed that contrary to the her husband’s claims, it was he who ‘has always been cruel, vicious, wicked and capable of provoking domestic quarrels.”
She disclosed in her response to the husband’s petition how she met her husband in 2006 during her NYSC year in Abuja. She also claimed that he ‘ was involved in a fatal accident that sent him into coma 5 days and was paralysed two weeks to their traditional wedding. And as a result of the accident which rendered him bedridden, she stood by him and nursed him both within and outside Nigeria as he depended on her for every activity including going to the toilet because the petitioner did not have control of his rectal functions.’ She stated further in the petition how the accident rendered him jobless and she took over his feeding and clothing also.
She stated further that ‘the accident affected the petitioner’s sexual performance, yet, she did everything possible to satisfy his sexual needs and that because it was impossible for both of them to have children normally, they were advised to do IVF which he refused.’ She further revealed how he moved out of their matrimonial home when she went to the salon to wash her hair after he poured his shit on her face and all over the room.
She disclosed how when he got his present appointment and things started picking up for him, he started having female friends who were brought by his family. According to her claims, the presence of female friends in their matrimonial home, instigated fights as he would always get violent and throw wastes especially from his bedpan which included his urine and excreta at her whenever she raised the issue.
She stated that all these were aimed at ensuring that she moved out of the matrimonial home but she resisted. Recalling the event that led to his eventual movement out of their matrimonial home, Ebere Okogwu claimed that she did not force him out of the home, rather, on 2nd September 2013, she had a brawl with a female friend her husband had brought into the house and her husband after pouring his wastes on her, in anger moved out with his family members.
She further stated that before his appointment at SURE-P, things were not like that as she was the one who provided for the family and even sent money to her husband’s aged mother regularly from her meager earnings but since he got the job, he had a ‘sudden change of behavior’ as well as bringing female friends into their homes, many of who were brought by his family members who were not around when he was down. She further disclosed in her submissions that though the couple had no child, they both had a child each before they married. The case has since been adjourned for further hearing.
