Built with state-of-the-arts swimming pools, closed circuit television for each house, sports and other recreation facilities, and several other pubs, they are simply dream homes. You might think you know Abuja but you do not know the city if you do not know the areas where the rich and powerful lives in the city.

PEGGY’S POINTEPEGGY’S

Pointe located nearly opposite the Maitama Hospital and not too far from Dunes. It is an estate that stands out not just by the high and mightily imposing gate but the ferocious looking but cautious guards who keep sentry at the gate as well as other strategic outposts in the estate. It is perhaps one of the most policed estates in the country though the uniformed men who police the estate are armed they are cautious and from their approach you would know that they are well-trained. Virtually every part of the estate is believed to be secured through close circuit cameras and guests are thoroughly frisked before they are allowed in. As expected you cannot just walk in unless the tenant you are visiting notify the gates and confirm your identity. Electricity and water run twenty four hours and the estate is said to have its own relaxation spots as well as other recreational facilities and well cleaned and beautified environment. City People gathered that for a 3-bedroom flat tenants pay 100,000 dollars annually and they pay less for smaller apartments. Payments are made in hard currency as the owner of the estate does not take Nigerian Naira.Most of the resident are believed to be workers with embassies and International organisations as well as prominent Nigerians who have homes in other parts of the town but who prefer to live there in other to keep off guests and unwanted visitors.

MAITAMA HEIGHTS

It is located in Maitama not too far from IBB way. It is in the same level with Peggy’s Pointe in terms of security as well as facilities.  The rents here start from 85,000 dollars per annum for a 3-bedroom apartment with a boy’s quarter. It is believed that many of the apartments here are rented by top organizations who want their staff to live exclusively.

ANCESTORS’ COURT

CROWN COURT

There is also the Crown Court which is located around Mabushi area of Abuja, somewhere behind the Ministry of Environment. The estate costs tenants 5 million Naira per annum minus additional charges. Altogether, a tenant would cough out about 6.7million Naira to have the place. Like the other places, the highpoints are the tall walls, security, good access road, twenty four hours light and treated water supply as well as availability for recreational facilities.

DANTATA ESTATES

Located in Maitama Abuja. Dantata Estates also boasts of high network of security as well as amenities such as light water and recreational facilities. It is believed that rents here cost around 4.8million Naira a year.

DOVE ESTATE

ROYAL EAGLE ESTATE

Royal Eagle estate is located in Jabi Abuja. Curiously, the name is not displayed on the outside of the estate maybe because it is a private estate. Many of the owners of homes in the estateare government top shots such as Directors Generals as well as permanent secretaries. The houses are owned by the owners and there are about twenty four houses in all. It is one of the most heavily policed estates in the city with virtually each house having a mobile policeman apart from the ones at the estate’s gate. It boast of good access roads as well as other amenities.
