Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala won the Golden Ball award as the best player of the 2014 Fifa U20 World Cup and Golden Boot having scored 7 goals and provided 2 assists.
19-year-old Asisat, born 9th October 1994, hails from Ikorodu in Lagos State. A central midfielder with height 172cm, she plays for Rivers Angels Football Club.
Once a player of the talent breeding FC Robo, she had her secondary school education at Aunty Ayo International School in Lagos and graduated in 2009.
Her fans usually call her Seedorf because of the powerful strikes she sometimes exerts when playing. Asisat started as a striker before being deployed as a central midfielder. She is a very hard tackler and possesses the killer passing abilities to destroy the opposition.
The fast-rising lady was reverted to her former position by Super Falcons coach Edwin Okon during the qualifiers for the 2014 African Women’s Championship and she didn’t disappoint, striking a formidable partnership with Guingamp Football Club new signing Desire Oparanozie.
She was a member of the 2012 squad that represented Nigeria at the U20 World Cup in Japan. Asisat is making her second appearance at the U-20 women’s World Cup.
