The Lagos State House of Assembly has confirmed Justice Olufunmilayo Olajumoke Atilade for the position of Chief Judge of the state. The decision was taken at the Assembly’s plenary session on Monday after Atilade was screened on her nomination which was earlier forwarded by Governor Babatunde Fashola. During the exercise, Justice Atilade told the lawmakers that she had spent half of her life working for the state judiciary and became a magistrate at the age of 30 in 1982 and thereafter, a judge in 1996.She promised to continue with the effort of Justice Ayotunde Phillips, the immediate past Chief Judge of the state, who is her sister.
