ALAAFIN OF OYO: “GOVERNOR AJIMOBI HASN’T OFFENDED ME IN ANY WAY”
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has dismissed claims that his relationship with Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi is strained. The first-class monarch said this on Thursday, when the governor paid him a courtesy call in his palace as part of his ongoing tour of local governments in the state to distribute appointment letters to 5,300 teachers recently given appointment by the state government. According to the traditional ruler, “The governor has not offended me in any way. He has not done anything for us to part ways. We are still together. May God Almighty continue to guide him aright. I will not tell lies, if he offends me, I will tell him. If there is the need for us to part ways, I would have told him but there is no reason to warrant this.” In his remarks, Governor Ajimobi thanked the traditional ruler saying, “We enjoy the enthusiasm of the people of Oyo and the Alaafin. The reception we got in Oyo today is not without the consent of the royal father. People carry rumours that we would soon part ways which has not come to pass. They say he will abandon me. This has not happened. The development we enjoy in the state today is due to the support of the Alaafin.”
