Cynthia Okoli was just an ordinary girl until she took part in a modelling/beauty pageant; Face of Laxento. The University of Lagos undergraduate’s life has totally turned around since she won the contest.
Now, Cynthia has joined the celeb list; she has become a proud car owner and N500, 000 richer: all being prizes attached to her crown.
The 21-year-old model told Saturday Beats on the phone that she went into the beauty pageant for her love for modelling.
“I have always loved seeing people on the runway as a little girl. Modelling is my passion. Some people told me to enter for the pageant and I did. I am so glad that I won. After my reign, I may enter for other pageants. I really can’t say. But I am happy being the Face of Laxento,” she said.
Cynthia said her father didn’t know she entered for the pageant because, “he would have stopped me if he had known. My father is a strict disciplinarian and wouldn’t have wanted to hear of it. But now, he is happy for me.”
Now that she has become a queen, Cynthia said her status in school has changed but then, she still keeps her old friends.
“I wouldn’t think of changing my friends. They were there for me even before I became known. New friends are welcome but I am not ready to discard my old friends who knew me long before now,” she said.
