LAGOS DEPUTY GOVERNOR SET TO BATTLE GANIYU SOLOMON & DEMOLA SERIKI

Her posters are all over major areas in her senatorial districts, announcing her interest to contest for the Lagos West Senatorial District. It came as a big surprise to many political watchers when they woke up last week to see the posters of the Lagos Deputy Governor, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulure flooding the whole of Alimosho, Agege and other parts of Lagos West. What made the sudden emergence of posters all the more controversial was because that seat she is contesting for is currently being occupied by Senator Ganiyu Solomon popularly called GOS, who is currently eyeing the governorship of Lagos. His governorship posters and banners are all over Lagos and he has gone ahead to pick up the governorship nomination form to show his seriousness.

City People gathered that right now, the leadership of APC in Lagos State has thrown its weight behind the deputy governor since GOS has already decided not to go back to the Senate. Meanwhile, former Minister of State for Defence, Ademola Seriki has also signified his intention to vie for the seat on the platform of APC. Why the choice of Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire for the slot? It is because of her strong political influence. Adefulire is the daughter of a staunch Lagos politician, Alhaji Jimoh Orelope who remains a big political figure in Alimosho area of the State, though he has been on the sick bed for some years now. Her dad’s influence was said to have played a key role in her emergence as Deputy Governor in 2011.

Hon. Victoria Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire is an administrator, social worker, politician and Princess of the Royal Family in Lagos State and was born on the 29th of September, 1959. Though simple in outlook, and self-effacing in her interactions, she has behind her a long history of great achievements through her passion, commitment and dedication to public service. She has, in her more than 2 decades sojourn in politics, carved a niche for herself as an accomplished grassroots politician with a passion for the emancipation of the womenfolk, youth development, especially the girl-child education. On completion of her schooling, she worked briefly before venturing into politics drawing inspiration from her father who was one of the staunch Awoists in his active political life.
