Multiple award winning broadcaster, Otunba Dayo Adeneye, recently announced his intention to contest for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly.
City People recently had a chat with Dayo Adeneye about his reasons for joining politics and if there was an ulterior motive.
Q: Who is Dayo Adeneye outside the spotlight?
A: Am just a father, husband and dedicated Nigerian
Q: What was your early life like?
A: Early life was great. I attended school in Lagos and Ijebu-ode. Nigeria was a lovely place to grow up back then. I had so much fun playing soccer and going to the cinema houses.
Q: You started with Entertainment, what inspired you to go into Politics?
A: My people asked me to run
Q: Would you still anchor Primetime Africa with kenny Ogungbe when you win?
A: I don’t see why not. If my schedule permits
Q: A lot of Nigerians believe celebrities are going into politics for the money. How can u convince them otherwise?
A: All I ask is that they check my track record. I’ve always been involve in educating and empowering young people. I do things that am passionate about. A good name they say is worth more than Gold.
Q: Do you have any God father in politics?
A: I only have mentors and party leaders
Q: What’s your biggest fear as the election draws near?
A: We pray for it to be free m fair
Q: You are involved in entertainment, broadcasting, hospitality now politics. How do you combine all?
A: Call it multi tasking. Am surrounded by very competent managers and staff which makes my job a lot easier. But it’s all God’s grace.
Q: Why the House of assembly? Why not an office that would enable you serve the nation rather than just your constituents?
A: Big things start from small beginnings
Q: What plans do you have for the Music Industry when you get to the House of Assembly?
A: Continue to help upcoming talents
Q: D1 as the entertainment guru and Hon. Dayo as the politician… What’s the difference?
