Desmond Elliot (born Desmond Oluwashola Elliot; 4 February 1974) is a Nigerian actor and director, who has starred in over two hundred films and a number of television shows and soap operas. He won best supporting actor in a drama at the 2nd Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards and was nominated for best supporting actor at the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
1. As A FAMILY MAN
Desmond Elliot, towards the end of the year 2013, relocated his Wife and 4 kids to the United States of America on claims that he wanted his children to have quality education. Desmond Elliot is married to Victoria Elliot and has 4 lovely kids.
2. As An Actor
Elliot was influenced by a friend to become an actor. He started playing roles in soap operas like Everyday People, One Too Much and Saints and Sinners. He is one of Nollywood’s leading actors, having appeared in over two hundred films including Men Who Cheat, Yahoo Millionaire and Atlanta.
In 2009 and 2010, Elliot was nominated for the Best Actor category at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
3. As A Producer/Director
In 2008 Elliot co-produced and co-directed the movie “Reloaded” which received 3 nominations at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2009. He has also produced more than 3 movies since he joined the Nigerian movie indusry in October 1999.
4. As A Musician
Sometime around 2008, Desmond Elliot was spotted in some music video, which left Nigerians shocked and amazed. Though not quite a number of Nigerian Music lovers welcomed the idea of Elliot trying to sing, The Nollywood star did struggle through his new found passion of singing Gospel songs.
5. As A Politician
Elliot declared his intentions in September 2014 to run for Lagos State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress [APC]. He contested for the Surulere Constituency. Elliot left a lot of Nigerians amazed when he won the Primaries of the party’s ticket. Having won the ticket at the primary election, the Nollywood star actor emerged as the candidate to represent Surulere constituency at the incoming Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA) in 2015.
