WHY THE CORPSE OF JIM NWOBODO’S LATE SON WAS SNATCHED AWAY

Pandemonium struck yesterday at Amechi, Nkanu-West Local Government Area of Enugu State when the community fell out with former governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo over where his,son,Jim, Dr. Ifeanyi Nwobodo Jnr would be buried. In the early hours of yesterday, news filtered in that the Junior Nwobodo’s corpse had disappeared from the morgue. Recall he died on November 16, 2014 after battling cancer.

Going by reports, his corpse was snatched away following a crisis among members of the clan and Senator Jim Nwobodo when he chose a venue outside the family compound for the burial of the deceased, a decision which was opposed by other members of the family.It took the intervention of the Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province of the Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuma, who waded into the matter to reconcile the warring parties. It was after the meeting which lasted for several hours that the Archbishop volunteered to allow the family bury Dr. Ifeanyi Nwobodo Jnr at the St. Mathew’s Anglican Church Amechi Awkunanaw.

Dignitaries in attendance at the burial were Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, National Chairman, United Progressives Party,UPP,Chief Chekwas Okorie, National Chairman,All Progressives Grand Alliance,APGA,Victor Umeh, former minister of information, Chief Nnai Nwodo,Senator Annie Okonkwo.
