President Idriss Déby of Chad has issued a ringing call for action against terror, saying Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau and other fighters should surrender. According to Bisong Etahoben, foremost Cameroun-based journalist, who disclosed this on Twitter, Deby said Shekau and his fighters should surrender as tables have turned and fear has changed sides. Deby made this statement when he received Benin president Yayi Boni in Ndjamena yesterday.
This is one of the toughest warnings to the Boko Haram leader from a Western African leader following the killing of 207 Boko Haram militants on Tuesday, 24th February 2015 near a Nigerian town close to the border with Cameroon. The Chadian military also claimed to have seized large quantities of small arms and ammunition and 2 pick-up trucks.
