Valentine weekend in London
Many London folks seem to have gone all the way to celebrate Valentines Day this year.
The celebration of love day which fell on a Saturday gave massive opportunity to events organisers and planners in London to present Londoners with picks of where to go and catch their Valentine’s Day fun and the unusually cold winter this year did not stop folks from gong out there and enjoying themselves.
From Friday evening, London screamed out from the huge number of Pre-Valentine parties The Friday events gave many London married blokes the great opportunity to “romance” their girlfriends or fish for new ones leaving Saturday free to smooch and tantalize the missus. At one of such events I attended, I saw married guys that were openly squeezing, touching and pressing and shoki-ing seriously with their dates on the dance floor but vehemently objected to having their pictures taken by lurking paparazzi knowing fully well they will be all over Facebook the following morning! But that did not stop them from proceeding to the nearest value Hotel or B & B for some all night Valentine’s after party games with their babes before running home to their wifeys in the morning, with their tails between their legs (gorrit??). I bet many of them were “officially”on “all night security shifts” or out with the boys – who really were also committing the same “offence” (Don’t worry fellas, your secret is safe *wink *wink*)
Nevertheless, many married couples attended the events together and some such as Tony DelaSoul Balogun with his stunning wife ShelleyAnn; and “Wotever Cakes” boss Seyi Oluwamayowa with her hubby booked themselves over the weekend into luscious 5 star hotels to have mummy and daddy time away from the kids and makes the best of the season of romance.
Unfortunately, for some single folks, it was a very lonely weekend indeed. Many single ladies went out together as a group with the hope of being “fished” by some bloke looking for romance but while many ladies did manage to get “taken-away” some were not so lucky and returned home single. And others who didn’t have dates simply stayed home, ordered take away and watched the tv!
And of course the guys who had nowhere to go – your guess is as good as mine *wink*
Maybe next year then, eh?
Poison Ivy of south East London
Many of the ladies living in the South East of London are strong hard working women who are holding down jobs and family live and maybe some business on the side but some ladies are out for all the troubles they can start. One of such ladies is this particular one that works in the Events industry. This pretty lady appears sweet and friendly – and calls every one sister. She gets close to other women, delves into their private lives and gets to know their secrets. Even posts sweets comments on their facebook walls and likes all their pictures.
But what her so called new friends and sisters do not know is that this dark skinned lady single handedly goes around armed with details and secrets in her possession to tarnish her friends images and reputation. Sharing confidential information with other people whether or not they need or want to know. One of her tactics is threatening to reveal real and trumped up secrets about her friends to their husbands in order to obtain favours and freebies.
This lady given a tag of the deadly disease currently ravaging some areas of West Africa by her “friends” is a forceful woman who tries to bully her way into other people’s lives, events or to obtain people’s services and when she doesn’t get her way, resorts to back biting, blackmail, slanderous rumours and wicked names-calling. She is one who will voluntarily offer her service for use at other people’s events and then behind their backs, accuse them of being cheap and broke. She takes criticisms of her services really badly and those who have made the mistake of pointing out faults in her products have inadvertently felt the lash of her sharp tongue and poisonous texting.
She was once confronted by the husband of one of the “friends” she had been terrorising who sternly warned her to “leave my wife alone or you will be reported to the police for harassement” before she backed off.

This lady would initially come across as a sweet darling, but under her petite frame is a troubled soul with a troublesome heart and a hurtful tongue. She has the wonderful talent of making just as many enemies as friends. Many unsuspecting female colleagues in the industry have fallen victim to her devious ways and many friends have become sworn enemies because of her tactics. No one’s secret is safe with her and she will freely use anything she knows about you against you if she feels threatened or wrong done by. Many wonder how her husband who seems like a nice gentleman copes with such a dangerous woman as a wife.
Unfortunately, there are many ladies like this woman around London and when people learn to not be so trusting with their private lives, and more wise with their choice of friends, these kind of ladies will find a better way to spend their time.

Chatting with Victoria Inyama:
I bumped into Actress Victoria Inyama at Yetunde Bustline Oduwole’s house party in London. The Nollywood star was looking almost unrecognisable due to the great amount of weight she has lost and looking the slimmest she has ever been, was charming enough to have an little chat with me even after I introduced myself. Asked why she hadn’t been seen on our screens for some time, Victoria said that raising a family meant that she had to focus on her kids and studio and shooting times wont allow that. She however admitted that she was now ready to return to acting if the right role came along.
On the suggestion that she joins Nollywood UK, the petite framed actress who now lives in London was quick to answer that the roles so far coming out of Nollywood UK, are not quite the right ones for her and that the quality of their writing needs to be improved upon.

These carnivals were widely attended by many students from the university towns of Lagos, Ife, Ibadan, Nsukka, and Ilorin etc in the 80s. The Jeans Carnival is now an annual festival in the United Kingdom and is a major event in the Nigerian-UK entertainment calendar.
