PROGRAM OFFICER/COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION COORDINATOR (FOUR PILLARS PLUS)
JOB SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Project Manager, the Four Pillars PLUS Community Mobilization Coordinator will be responsible for working closely with the Four Pillars PLUS team members to implement the main objectives of the project: to improve the quality and relevance of girls’ education and to boost retention rates for OVCs in selected LGAs of Calabar, Nigeria. The Community Mobilization Coordinator is responsible for working closely with the school officials, school management committees, PTAs, local education officials, local community leaders, beneficiaries’ parents/caretakers and other stakeholders to ensure that the project gains sustainable support within the community through strengthening caregivers’ productive skills and garnering their support for their children’s education particularly the girls. The Community Mobilization Coordinator is also expected to create a network of support and participation with the local government departments that can provide caregivers with critical knowledge, expertise and means to empower their financial productivity and know how.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Facilitate community participation in and around school communities’ in order to establish sustainable support for the project;
Participate in conducting OVC assessment and enrolment with school principals, mentors, community leaders and other stakeholders;
Work closely with school principals, school community leaders, mentors, beneficiaries and other stakeholders to assess and prioritize needs;
Trace OVCs who have relocated to other areas or dropped out;
Follow up with cases related to child rights violations;
Document case studies / good practices;
Gather information about and develop training modules for the relevant gaps in each school community’s resources ;
Develop work plans for each school community based on needs assessment and choice of community activities;
Work with the project team to conduct capacity building sessions for the caregivers, school management committees, mentors and the school community on the care and support of the girl child and OVC education;
Work closely with the Project Manager to develop an implementation plan for each school community;
Assist in the distribution of scholarship materials to the beneficiaries;
Ensure that psychosocial care and support is provided to the OVCs and their caregivers;
Mobilize and sensitize the parents to form support groups towards contributing to school activities;
Develop a calendar of home and school visits and share with the teachers and community mentors;
Keep and maintain an updated record of OVC data base and files;
Research school communities’ resources to build capacities, train caregivers on IGAs relevant to their lives and environment;
Engage local businesses/financial institutions to provide training and guidance on saving and lending/bookkeeping if appropriate;
Conduct continuous monitoring of each school community’s participation and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager;
Assist the Project Manager in the monthly and annual reporting on community activities;
Perform other duties as necessary and appropriate;

PROGRAM OFFICER/GENDER MENTOR COORDINATOR (FOUR PILLARS PLUS)
JOB SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Project Manager, the Four Pillars PLUS Gender-Mentor Coordinator will be responsible for identifying mentors and organizing mentor training workshops for a number of girls’ mentors in project schools. The Gender- Mentor Coordinator will ensure that mentoring sessions in project schools are being executed as planned and cover topics that are most relevant to the beneficiaries’ lives. The Gender-Mentor Coordinator will assist in the monthly report and work plan preparation; organize and execute mentors’ training workshops; monitor and evaluate mentor training and mentors’ performance; research and provide support to the Project Manager; facilitate the creation of sustainable girls’ mentoring venues; and prepare additional activities supporting secondary schools and implementing Internship and Vocational Training programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assess the gender gaps of the Four Pillars PLUS stakeholders and conduct trainings and capacity building activities;
Support the development of gender related indicators in the different sectors using existing data for establishing baseline and future targets;
Ensure a monitoring and evaluation plan is in place to measure mentoring results and informs ongoing program design;
Undertake regular monitoring and observation visits to project schools to support and provide feedback and guidance to mentors;
Facilitate mentoring sessions for all students and participants in project schools;
Develop a gender communication plan for all mentors and other participants such as a Mentors Monthly Newsletter and other project related publications and brochures to inform the communities;
Work closely with facilitators to improve mentors delivery of their training;
Facilitate the creation and smooth running of a girls’ mentoring program in each school;
Ensure the formation of peer to peer mentoring clubs in schools;
Use and adapt the three FHI 360 Guides to Mentoring on Life Skills, HIV/AIDS and Transitioning from School to Work to the relevant Nigerian context;
Support the implementation/inclusion of Adolescent Reproductive Health Education in schools;
Create channels of communication with school committees and teachers, caregivers and parents to support mentoring objectives;
Help raise awareness on the impact of early pregnancy-early marriage on the girls’ lives and the health and future of their children;
Liaise with health services, where available, to provide a network of support for adolescent youth in and outside of school, if possible;
Conduct gender sensitization campaigns to continue raising community awareness about their roles, duties and expectations vis à vis the girls and adolescents;
Together with the project team, develop and coordinate advocacy initiatives on girls’ education in partnership with media, private sectors and civil society;

PROGRAM OFFICER/TEACHER TRAINING COORDINATOR (FOUR PILLARS PLUS)
JOB SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Project Manager, the Four Pillars PLUS Teacher Training Coordinator will be responsible for working closely with the project manager identifying a cohort of head teachers and teachers, school officials and administrators, local education officials in relevant ministries in the project schools’ communities and organizing training workshops on participatory methodologies, pedagogy, math and science, gender sensitivity and inclusion to improve the quality of teaching and enrich the learning experience for all students, particularly girls. Through regular classroom observation, evaluation and feedback, the Teacher Training Coordinator will ensure that all trained teachers and school officials are applying lessons learned in the classrooms and across the schools with the objectives of increasing retention and improving academic performance for all students. The Teacher Training Coordinator will assist in the monthly report and work plan preparation; organize and execute teachers’ training workshops; monitor and evaluate trained teachers’ performance; research and provide support to the Project Manager and facilitate the creation of drop down trainings for sustainability of quality education for girls and OVCs in secondary schools.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Work closely with the Project Manager to engage school principals, school community, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders to assess quality education gaps and needs;
Identify a cohort of head teachers, teachers, school management members and relevant MOE representatives for training;
Develop teacher training modules – either cluster or cascade model;
Create a calendar of training and follow up for each school based on needs assessment;
Assist the Mentor Coordinator in the development of supplemental, life, civic and social skills curriculum;
Plan and manage all activities related to the design and delivery of innovative teacher training techniques and materials development for active, participatory student-centered learning;
Assess trained school staff performance on a regular and informal basis, identifying areas of need or weakness, and develop and deliver solutions or responses to these needs;
Facilitate the delivery of pedagogical and gender sensitive teacher training;
Develop a calendar of school visits and share calendar with schools to follow up with teachers as to their use of new techniques in the classroom;
Organize, if desired by school, other supportive activities for teacher professional development;
Facilitate, train, and follow up with School Management Committees to support girls’ education in order to support the teachers and school administration;
Work with Project Manager to develop Implementation Plans and Performance Monitoring/Evaluation Plans for education activities on a six month basis;
Submit monthly reports to Project Manager on progress of project activities;
Assist the Project Manager in the monthly and annual reporting on teacher training and performance activities;

SENIOR FINANCE & ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER (FOUR PILLARS PLUS)
JOB SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Finance Administrative Officer will be responsible for working closely with FHI 360 Four Pillars PLUS staff to implement the main objectives of project: to improve the quality and relevance of girls’ education and boost retention rates in select regions of Nigeria. The project offers scholarships, girls’ mentoring, teacher training, and community participation to address the complex barriers to education. Senior Finance Administrative Officeris responsible for the administration of sound project budget, reviewing financial transactions, preparing imprest and reconciling all expenses on a timely manner and for ensuring that all records are in accordance with FHI 360 policies and procedures, and Nigerian national and local regulations and guidelines. This position may be required to work additional hours and on-call for after hours, weekend, and holiday duty for emergency situations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Record, implement, report, and store the financial transactions needed to support a wide variety of legally authorized programs and related administrative functions through the modification or administration of manual and automated systems.
Maintain adherence to “generally accepted accounting principles” by staff regarding activities and record keeping including attending training sessions regarding changes and instituting training sessions for staff.
Design, develop and implement office wide procedures, policies and guidelines related to complete accounting programs to facilitate the preparation of financial statements, accounting records, related reports, and the control, monitoring and timely reconciliation of accounts.
Implement office wide procedures, policies and guidelines pursuant to FHI 360’s Operations Manual.
Work closely with Project Officer to maintain safety procedures for FHI 360 Four Pillars staff.
Serve as an expert authority on analysis and reconciliation of integrated accounts and budgets.
Ensure that funds are efficiently controlled and financial records accurately reflect the status of the financial condition of the project.
Perform reviews, analysis, and reporting in the various accounting functions assigned.
Work closely with Project Manager in Field Office and the Finance Manager in the Home Office to maintain financial health of project as well as during project close out phase at the appropriate time.
Maintain daily communications with financial/operations associates in HQ Washington office.

PROJECT MANAGER (FOUR PILLARS PLUS)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Work with relevant ministry officials, staff and local communities to facilitate the choice of the schools and beneficiaries for project implementation;
Ensure that all the activities under the Four Pillars PLUS are being successfully implemented and that solutions are provided for any challenges met;
Prepare, review and oversee sound financial management systems that keep a balanced and working budget;
Oversee the procurement and distribution of scholarship materials to boys and girls;
Help create and oversee project implementation plan and logistics;
Facilitate the training of mentors and ensure that girls’ mentoring sessions are taking place on a regular basis with utmost results;
Ensure that Teacher Professional Development workshops are well organized and relevant to the deliverables requested to improve academic performance of all direct and indirect beneficiaries;
Facilitate the participation of school and local communities in the activities of the project;
Work with staff and communities to create and strengthen project’s sustainability mechanisms through stakeholders’ continued involvement and effective participation;
Develop the required field budget, monthly and yearly work plans;
