Police Minister, Jelili Adesiyan, opens up on Ekiti election tape

Says: “I never admitted the election was rigged”
The Police Affairs Minister, Alhaji AbdulJelili Adesiyan, on Monday said he never admitted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) colluded with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig the June 21, 2014 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State to favour Governor Ayodele Fayose. Reacting to the allegation through his chief press secretary, Mr Wale Akinola, Adesiyan said the reports were not only misleading and unfounded, but a calculated attempt to tarnish his image.According to him, “My attention has been drawn to the media reports, which purportedly claimed that I admitted that the Ekiti election was rigged in favour of Governor Fayose. The media reports were untrue and attempt to malign my integrity and portray me in bad light. To put the record straight, what I said was that there was a near physical fight when Brigadier- General Momoh was accused of being bribed by Governor Kayode Fayemi and the All Progressives Congress (APC). The accusation led to a heated argument between (the general) and Fayose”.
