Abia State Government has given the former governor of the state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, 72 hours to apologise to the state over statements credited to him by the media. The media had earlier quoted Dr Orji Kalu who was responding to a question on how he would react if his movement was restricted on the Election Day which is very near, like it was allegedly done in 2011. The former governor however responded saying; “The governor cannot try it. If he tries it, it will be the end of his administration.”
He was also quoted to have said, “Our people will burn down the state. We are ready for them.”
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the State, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere, however said he hopes the governor knows the implications of his statements. While addressing newsmen in the State, Agazuere said;
“The statements are treasonable as they connote that the former governor has concluded plans to wage a war against the state.
“I he hope the former governor understands the implication of his statements, as nobody is above the law.
“Kalu is gradually working himself into prison.
“Kalu should know that even past presidents have gone to prison,” he said.
