Charter House to embarrass fans of artistes

For those who witnessed this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, it was an awkward moment when some fans joined their artistes on stage to receive their awards. The worst of it was when some people went on stage during Stonebwoy’s performance to shower money on him. This nearly ruined his performance as the stage was in a mess.

Head of brands, communications and media for the organizers, Charter House has described the act as uncivilized and has called on the media to help educate the public on that.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch, George Quaye condemned the act but said it was not preventable at that moment.

“It is a big challenge which started a very long time ago. You [the media] would have to help us win that battle because if I let my security man manhandle someone just to send a message out to people that this is not allowed, the media will take me on. You could notice the program started nicely; however, in the middle of the event, the act began. And this is usually perpetrated by fans of secular artistes”, he said.

He disclosed that Charter House in an attempt to find solutions to the act is exploring various options which might include harsh means.

“The fact that you are a fan does not mean you should come on stage with your artiste. It’s that little moment of glory for the artiste and you want to take that away from him? It is wrong. If I told my security to stop people, the place would be chaotic. What would you have done in my case? Why should you go on stage? It is uncivilized! And we pray for enlightenment among the populace. We are brainstorming on various options. Maybe we have to send a message out there to embarrass one person terribly in order to serve as a deterrent to others”, he vehemently indicated.
