A 400 Level student of English at the Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) in Ondo State, Akinsiku Michael Timileyin died at the Erin Ijesha waterfall in Osun State on Saturday. His family has called for an investigation into his death, saying he may have been murdered. Timileyin, a native of Ondo town in Ondo State, was said to have gone with his friends and other students on an excursion organised by the Student Union Government (SUG) to the tourist site when he died.
Alake Temitope, another 400 Level student, said Timileyin slumped and died after they had moved round and enjoyed the tour. But a report said he had gunshots in his body, while another source claimed he fell from the mountain top. Alake said the spot where Timileyin slumped was very plain, but he died despite all efforts to revive him before he could be rushed to a nearby hospital in Ilesha town. The deceased’s course-mates also said there was no gunshot or scar on the corpse as some people alleged. Late Timileyin was buried yesterday in Ondo town while his school declared a lecture-free day in his honour.
