The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Olusola Amosu, on Thursday expressed the need for government to make provisions in its budget for additional technological equipment, if the Nigerian Air Force is to continue to make significant impact in its counter-terrorism efforts.
While speaking to journalists in Abuja at an occasion to mark the 51st Anniversary of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Marshall Amosu said persistent surveillance and strikes by the Air Force has so far yielded good results, but that the results could be even greater, if the service gets access to more advanced technological equipment.
The Chief of Air Staff said Nigeria can continue to count on the readiness and capability of the force in tackling the challenges in the North East.
The Chief of Air Staff had in February noted that said the Nigeria Air Force will be stepping up its air strike on insurgents in the north eastern part of Nigeria following the acquisition of new equipment and weapons.
He made this known in Lagos, while speaking during the testing and calibration of newly-acquired equipment.
