Mrs. Raliat Abdusalam
The Chief Executive Officer of Kiddies Talent Show, Mrs. Raliat Abdusalam, has said that the need to discover and harness gifts in young ones inspired the Kiddies Talent Show, a TV reality project.
The programme that is in its second season, and auditions are currently being held for it.
According to Abdusalam, her experience with the maiden season proved that efforts being invested in the show are bearing fruit.
She said, “Having worked with children and seeing the abundance of their strength and talents, I can say that most kids possess talents that their parents cannot even identify. In other cases, most parents are at a loss as to what to do to harness such talents. This informed our decision to start this show. It is a show that will not only help to identify the gifts early in the lives of the young ones, it will also help to develop and nurture them so they don’t go to waste. We also noticed that other talent shows give an open platform to all contestants without age demography. But KTS allows all contestants to have that sense of equality without any fear of intimidation from adult participants.”
She adds that the show is educative and entertaining and targets Nigerian children under the age of 17 years.
She explains, “It promotes showmanship, interaction with the audience and covers music, dance, drama, comedy, sports, painting and handcraft. The project runs for four months, including a two-week boot camp where the kids are groomed and mentored by seasoned professionals with a reward at the end. After this, the winners are groomed to further promote their talents.”
Abdusalam notes that at the end of the first season, winner of the audience award, Muftau Adeleke, got a scholarship support from secondary education through the tertiary, while a music production record deal was signed by Quay Production Company with Miss. Deborah Umoren, who topped her category with her exceptional vocal abilities.
