Hostilities will begin today in the elite cadre of the Nigeria Women League, as twelve teams lock horns in two groups.
In group A, Delta Queens will host a rejuvenated Confluence Queens from Lokoja. The Kogi girls, who have promised to drop no points, will surely give the Coach Dan Evuemena-tutored girls a run for their money. But it would be an up-hill task for them to subdue the Delta girls in Oleh. The game of the weekend will o down in Osogbo, where Osun Babes host Ibom Angels. The match, which will see two solid teams go up against each other will surely be followed minute-by-minute.
Giant killers FC Robo will try the Bayelsa Queens for size in Lagos. Newcomers, Robo, will be looking to make a statement, after their chances have been all but written off. Considering their youthfulness and zeal, it would be very difficult for Bayelsa to come out of the Match with a point. In Yola, Adamawa Queens will welcome Martins White Doves of Benin – another debutante. The Benin-based team topped group B of the elite league last season and will take no prisoners.
In group B, only two matches will be decided this weekend, as defending champions Rivers Angles of Port Harcourt and Sunshine Queens of Akure would have to wait for the approval of NFF Executive Committee to know their opponents. Edo Queens welcome Nasarawa Amazons, while FC Taraba will play host to Pelican Stars.
