EFCC detains Goodluck Jonathan’s former ally, invites 2 ex-governors, serving senators for questioning

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has begun investigation of former state governors  and others on charges of corruption and money laundering involving billions of naira. Yesterday, the anti-graft agency charged former Governor of Adamawa State Murtala Nyako and his son, Abdulaziz and two others in Abuja over alleged misappropriation of state funds.Also yesterday charged former governor of Imo state Ikedi Ohakim at a different court in Abuja for allegedly laundering state funds.

Former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOS) Steven Oronsaye was also taken into custody for his alleged involvement in over N6 billion biometric pension’s enrolment scam. Former governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Sule Lamido and two of his sons, could not be charged to court yesterday for logistic reasons, but they will be arraigned today. There are reports that 2 former governors Senator Adamu Aliero (Kebbi) and Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima(Zamfara state) have been invited for questioning next week.
