PDP: Goodluck Jonathan and wife fingered in senate leadership crisis
Following the PDP zoning arrangement for principal offices in the National Assembly, the Minority Leader, Deputy Minority Leader; Minority Whip and Deputy Minority Whip are expected to emerge from the opposition party. There are indications that following this zoning, a crisis is looming over who should take these positions. According to reports, the zoning situation may have pitched immediate-past president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, against the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu as well as Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state. This is because Ekweremadu and Wike are against the choice of Senator George Sekibo as Minority Leader as suggested by the Jonathans, while Senator Godswill Akpabio has shown interest in the same position of Minority Lader though he is not ranking in line with Senate Standing Orders 2015 as amended.
