Princess Anne Inyang, MC Abbey set for The Encounter

Judging from the lineup for this year’s edition of The Encounter, there are fillers that it is an event that cannot be missed. Some of the leading entertainers in the music and comedy industry will on Sunday, July 26, converge on The Church of God Mission International, Grace Chapel, Lagos, for one of the biggest gospel jams of 2015. In its fourth edition, the show promises to be uplifting spiritually as well as entertaining, says gospel crooner, Johhny Kabas, convener of the project.

Some of the artistes billed to perform include Princess Anne Inyang, MC Abbey, Centrik, Johnny Kabas, CeeY, Sohlah Babs, MC Ajele, Laff Doctor, Gospel Shakers and AGV, Favish Eyak.

Speaking to Saturday Beats about the inspiration behind ‘The Encounter,’ the Akwa Ibom-born convener said it was a vision borne out of necessity. “It’s an inspiration from God and one thing that drove the inspiration was necessity because when I came out, an unknown figure that I was then, one of the biggest challenges that I faced was having that platform to exhibit my talent. But by the grace of God, I have been able to break that jinx. And having broken that jinx, I decided to take it upon myself to help other young acts to remove the same stumbling block that I faced. I thought that one of the best things I can do to help myself and help others that are trying to come up is to create that platform. And we started very little but today, ‘The Encounter’ not only promotes young acts but also gives them that opportunity to mingle with the experienced acts, the big fish as we call them within the entertainment industry,” he said.
