Permit me to say unambiguously and without fear
of contradiction that Nigerian government has refused to give the issue of the abducted
Borno schoolgirls the utmost attention it deserves. That up till now Nigerian
borders with the neighbouring northern countries like Chad, Cameroon
and Niger
are still not closed suggests the issue has indeed been callously trivialised.
Nigerian leaders are advised to emulate how leaders from outside world swiftly
and promptly respond to contemporary issues. For instance, a few days ago the
Prime Minister of South Korea decided to resign as a sacrifice and taking
responsibility for the capsized ferry that claimed the lives of hundreds of
South Koreans.
We are however not necessarily asking the relevant authorities in our own case here to abdicate their positions as a sacrifice. In any case, such self-imposed sacrifice is completely alien to African leadership style and culture anyway.
