Moreover, if, as it is being rumoured, Boko Haram
is the devilish handwork of some people opposed to Jonathan’s Presidency,
resignation on the part of the President is absolutely uncalled for as such a
decision will give the evil perpetrators the erroneous impression that they are
winning. That the outcome of every decision right or wrong, lies on the table
of the President as the Chief Accounting Officer is not in contention.
I
strongly hold the view therefore that the President and all the national
decision-making units surrounding him, considering the powerful state machinery
at their disposal, could have done more to liberate the kidnapped schoolgirls
from their captors by now. Time is running out. Failure to rescue the innocent
and helpless schoolgirls will certainly impose an indelible stigma on
Jonathan’s government in particular and the Nigerian nation as a whole.
