OSOBA GROUP TIPS FOLA ADEOLA FOR GOVERNORSHIP!

Following the crisis engulfing the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, the Segun Osoba caucus of Ogun APC popularly known as the Matagbamole Group which just lost the Ogun Congress election to Gov. Amosun and his group has come up with another gameplan for the coming 2015 polls. We gathered that the group is eyeing Egba born former MD of GT Bank, Fola Adeola, as its governorship candidate. This new plot is meant to upturn the status quo in Ogun APC and eat into the support base of some Asiwaju Tinubu loyalists who want to use Gov. Amosun as the APC governorship candidate. They premised their belief on the fact that Fola Adeola too is an Egba Muslim who also enjoys the support of some loyalists of Tinubu too. We gathered further that the Osoba group belive too that Adeola is a very credible Egba man that is also very popular among his kinsmen and Ogun State as a whole. Our source added that the group has perfected plans to also have him in any new party they are moving to should they be unable to run him on the APC platform because of Gov. Amosun.
FALL OUT OF EKITI ELECTIONS, EDO GOVERNOR RECALLS 936 TEACHERS
Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, a few days ago,  cancelled the proposed Competency Test for Teachers in the state. The governor has also recalled the 936 teachers, whose name were deleted from the payroll over certificate discrepancies and age falsification and announced the immediate extension of the relativity allowance to teachers in the state public schools.
Oshiomhole, who disclosed this during a meeting with the Teachers’ Union and the Nigeria Labour Congress, explained that it was obvious to his administration that the future of the state rested on the level of quality investment in the state’s educational sector. He said, “On assumption of office, it was very clear to me and my colleagues that our future is defined by the level of investment in education and the quality of the basic education we provide for our children.
“That is why we have devoted resources to the rebuilding of our primary schools, junior and senior secondary schools. The governor noted that the need to ensure the future of the state by not compromising the future of the Edo child necessitated the action to redefine the educational system in the state. He said that the state government’s commitment to carry out the Competency Test was informed by these broad facts, having discovered that some of the teachers were not qualified or up to date with recent teaching methods. He noted that such reasons prompted the government’s insistence on the fact that the competency test must be seen in that light.
“However, having listened to all suggestions and consultations with various groups, the government has agreed to set aside the Competency or Assessment test in order to reassure Edo workers that the government has no intention to sack anyone,” the governor said. However, the development has elicited different responses from Nigerians far and near. Analysts feel that Gov. Oshiomhole bowed to the teachers following the outcome of the last Ekiti State elections where  the APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi lost to Ayodele Fayose of the PDP. It is also a fallout of the riot act read to the APC governors by its  leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that henceforth, their policies should seek more to empower the masses than against them. Tinubu was of the opinion that a lot of the policies in the APC controlled states be reversed following the Ekiti election fiasco.

HON. AKINLADE JOINS PDP
The race for Ogun state governorship polls took another dimension a few days back when a foremost aspirant in the House of Representatives, Abiodun Akinlade dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pitched his tent with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Akinlade, who submitted his letter to House of Reps. Speaker, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who in turn read same amidst thunderous cheers from members, is a third term member representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal constituency. The lawmaker who has been persistent in the campaign to become the governor of Ogun state contested with the incumbent, Ibikunle Amosun in 2011 before the APC adopted the Governor as the party’s flag-bearer. With his movement to the ruling PDP, there are indications that the race to Ogun Government House would be fiercer ahead of 2015 than expected. Akinlade, in the letter addressed to the Speaker explained that he resolved to dump the APC relying on the provisions of Section 68(g) of the 1999 constitution.
He stated: “This is to formally inform you and the leadership of the House of Representatives of my intention to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “This decision is premised on the fact that the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), on which platform I won election into the House in 2011, has merged with other parties to form the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Certificate of Registration of the ACN has since been returned to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). You may note that I won election into the House in 2003 and 2007 on the platform of the PDP but got re-elected in 2011 on the platform of the defunct ACN for the third term. In line with Section 68(g) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, many in my constituents and I resolved not to be part of the subsequent merger that was negotiated between the leadership of the defunct ACN and some other political parties which led to the eventual registration of the APC. I however thank the leadership of the defunct ACN for giving me the opportunity to serve on its platform,” Akinlade told the House.
ERELU OBADA STILL IN PDP
You must have heard the gists currently making the rounds that Erelu Olusola Obada, former  Deputy Governor to Ex-Osun Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola maybe dumping the PDP for APC. The rumour has been in the air for months. Last week, Obada who was a former Minister of State for Defence denied the rumours saying there was no iota of truth in it. “I am a solid PDP member”, she told City People last week, “and so I cannot join any other party, least of all,  the  APC. I have not defected and I can not defect to APC. Nothing like that at all, she said”.
