Following reports that the sister of late Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh had allegedly tested positive to Ebola virus, the Federal Government and Lagos State Governments have dismissed the reports as false. Briefing newsmen in Abuja on the update of the EVD in the country, Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, debunked the rumour, while the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris said: “These rumours have the capacity to undermine the efforts being made to contain and manage the outbreak as those who ought to present themselves for treatment may get discouraged, malign government in the face of residents and fuel stigmatisation of individuals and businesses. I do not want to mention names because that is part of what we are told not to do but I must say that the report on the woman is false. She was discharged yesterday (Monday) as negative.”
