WHY PASUMA GAVE ME OGANLA 2 TITLE, FUJI STAR, SAFEJO AMAMA REVEALS!

Safejo Amama aka Alagomeji is one of the wave making Fuji musicians in Nigeria. He is a prolific artiste who has churned out a lot of interesting albums. His style of Fuji is similar to that of Saheed Osupa, but surprisingly they don’t see eye to eye (he has abused him in many of his   albums). Safejo is known to be a controversial artiste, who played a prominent role in the inferno that almost burnt the velvet of Fuji music industry. He is believed to be Pasuma’s boy.  However, for some time now , the dreadlock wearing Fuji artiste has been in the U.S and many of his fans have been wondering what he has been up to, having been off from the Nigerian Fuji music scene for a while.

In a phone interview with Entertainment Gist, Safejo spoke on what he has been up to lately. When asked why he has been away for so long, he said.  “I have been busy working. The only reason I am here is to do what I know how to do best. I have a large fan base here and anytime I come around, they always want me to perform.  And you know, America is very big, so I have been touring the country doing shows. I have been to California, Los Angeles, Maryland and so on. There are still other states where they are expecting us, and we will make sure we go there before returning home. There are a lot of shows lined up, trust me. Once I am done, I will come back to Nigeria.” Surprisingly, Safejo , who  often pushes out new works , hasn’t dropped an album for a long time. This is very unlike him.  While explaining why his album hasn’t been out  in a long while, he said “It’s because I have been away for quite some time. Nevertheless, I did an album here recently, and I have sent it down to Nigeria.  It will be out any moment from now. We are yet to title it, but it’s ready for release .Once we have agreed on the title, you will see it everywhere.” As many music artistes are shunning being part of cliques in the Fuji music industry, the talented Fuji musician, remains loyal to Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and poses to be  second in command of his Oganla caucus. When asked why he chose to be part of the Oganla caucus, he explained“I am part of the Oganla family like some other Fuji artistes. Pasuma who is the Oganla 1, thought I deserved the title and he gave it to me. He could have given it to anyone else, but he said I merited it more”

Why did Pasuma think Safejo deserves the Oganla 2 title? “Because I respect him a lot and he realised that  I am very serious with my job. I have been able to break boundaries with my job, and I have taken Fuji everywhere just like him.” However, many people have criticised him for accepting the Oganla 2  title, saying that, he should have been on his own just like many other Fuji artistes, rather than choosing to be someone’s second in command. While reacting to this, he said “There is time for everything. There are stages in life. You move from one stage to another. There are times when people will be in Primary school, then later to Secondary School, and to University. These are different  stages in life . So, what I am trying to say in essence is that, when I feel that I am ripe enough to be on my own, I will do so. Pasuma used to be King Wasiu Ayinde’s second in command  and when he realised  that he needed to be on his  own , he left. So, there will be a time when I will also be on my own, but for now, I am still Oganla 2”

Safejo is one Fuji artiste who  is very close to Pasuma . He holds  him in high esteem. On why he is close to the Orobokibo creator, he has this to say “I am close to Pasuma because he is very humble , he doesn’t look down on people , and he is always there to help his junior colleagues . He is my mentor. He has contributed to my career and is always ready to help whenever I go to him for help”
