BEN MURRAY-BRUCE AND DARU OWEI BATTLE FOR PDP BAYELSA EAST SENATORIAL TICKET

Ben Murray-Bruce, the Chairman, Silverbird Group, Mr. Ben Murray-Bruce, and Dr. Daru Owei, a retired General Manager (Human Resources) of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited will battle for Peoples Democratic Party ticket in Bayelsa-East senatorial district. Though there are reports that the incumbent senator, Clever Isikpo may run for a second term, the zoning system may work against him as leaders in the state had nominated Murray-Bruce and Owei who are from Brass Kingdom.

Reacting to the issue of zoning, the Bayelsa PDP Secretary, Mr. Godspower Keku said, “Zoning has been the practice of the district right from the time of Chief Melford Okilo when he was in the Senate. They allow their senators to go for one term only. It is just their standards, but for central-senatorial district it is two tenures. The constitution of the PDP clearly states that we must adhere strictly to zoning.”
