GLOBACOM RENEWS SUPPORT FOR OJUDE-OBA

It is with great pleasure that I welcome all of you to this press conference announcing our participation again as major sponsor of this year’s Ojude Oba Festival. This is the fifth year of the sponsorship contract signed in 2010 with our company, Globacom.

Globacom’s consistent sponsorship of festivals in Nigeria is aimed at consolidating our commitment to identify with the culture and tradition of the Nigerian people, as a Nigerian company playing on the global pedestal. This obligation has seen us partnering with the people of ljebuland to celebrate the Ojude Oba festival, a relationship that began five years ago and will last for 10 years.

Globacom has made similar commitment to people’s from other parts of the country to celebrate their cultural values through their festivals, among which are the Ofala Festival celebrated in the eastern part of the country as well as the Usabi Festival in the western part. Recently, similar hands of fellowship was extended to people from other’ cultural lineage through the signing of memorandum of understanding to boost their cultural festivals.

Our involvement in the celebration of Ojude Oba festival is also geared towards celebrating the unique tradition and custom of the Ijebu people. By sponsoring Ojude Oba and other festivals with huge tourism potentials comparable to the 100-year old Rio de Janeiro Carnival, Globacom is helping to promote the cause of tourism in the country.

Since its inception, Ojude Oba has consistently attracted massive number of tourists from other parts of Nigeria as well as the global community. We are proud to be associated with this important festival which has become the rallying point for all sons and daughters of the land to congregate and brainstorm on some developmental values that will accelerate political, social, and economic growth of the people,

Ladies and gentlemen, it may also interest you to know that our involvement in Ojude Oba and other local festivals has helped us to further deepen the positioning of Globacom as the truly and proudly Nigerian telecommunications brand that respects Nigeria and the wishes of her people. We cannot thank the people of Ijebu land enough for the warm hand of fellowship they have continuously extended to Globacom.

Being text of an address delivered by Mr. Babatunde Amunikoro, Head, Public Sector Sales, Globacom on the occasion of the press conference to announce the 2014 Ojude Oba festival on Tuesday, 23rd September, 2014 at the Royal Banquet Hall, Awujale’s Palace, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

We thank God for bringing us together once again to celebrate our existence as a people. We also congratulate our royal father, the Kabiyesi, The Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebu land, Oba Sikiru Adetona and indeed, all the Ijebus in Nigeria and the diaspora for witnessing this year’s celebrations.
