APC PRESIDENTIAL TICKET: “I’M NOT AFRAID OF TAMBUWAL” – ATIKU ABUBAKAR

Former Vice-President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has said he is not disturbed about the process of selecting the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) with the entry of the House of Representatives Speaker, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, into the race on the party’s platform.
According to Atiku, who spoke with newsmen on Friday shortly after he held a closed-door meeting for hours with members of the Lagos State House of Assembly led by Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji as part of his campaign to woo delegates to his side, he described the entry of Tambuwal into the presidential race as “legitimate as far as democracy is concerned,” adding that “I do not see any problem in the process of selecting or electing a presidential candidate for the party.”
Atiku contended that consensus must be based on the willingness of all the aspirants involved, saying that such an arrangement could not be forced down the throat of the people. He, however, observed that the party was currently approaching the matter in a very responsible and mature manner as “it has requested for aspirants to explore the option of consensus if they find it will be workable, if not they are subjected to primaries.”
