Joined as first to seventh defendants in the suit are the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), its National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Inspector General of Police, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Attorney-General of the Federation.Tambuwal is also asking the court to declare that he remains a member and the Speaker of the House of Representatives until June 5, 2015 when his current term of office will expire. He is also praying the court to declare that withdrawal of his security details when he has not been removed from office as Speaker and member of the House of Representatives is illegal and unconstitutional.

He is seeking an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from taking any steps to interfere or infringe on his rights and privileges as the Speaker of the House of Representatives and as a member before the expiration of his term.Furthermore, Tambuwal wants the court to give an order of perpetual injunction restraining INEC from accepting any nomination of candidates or organising a bye-election for the purpose of replacing him.
