A Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Oladipo Afolayan has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman in his office. This is coming a few months after another Lagos DPO, Mr. Adekunle Awe, was arrested for allegedly raping a woman, Idowu Akinwunmi, in his office at the Onikan Police Division. Afolayan, who is a Superintendent of Police, had only been recently posted to the Magodo Police Post when the incident allegedly occurred. Going by reports, the woman he allegedly raped was a suspect in an ongoing investigation.Following a report by the victim, Afolayan was arrested and brought before the Commissioner of Police, Cornelius Aderanti. The matter, which has been tabled before the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2 Command, Mr. Umar Manko, has been transferred to the X Squad, a department at the state command which is in charge of investigating police crimes and misdemeanours.
