The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has returned the incumbent Deputy Senate-Whip and senator representing Oyo North senatorial district in the National Assembly, Hosea Ayoola Agboola, in the senatorial primary election held on Tuesday, in Iseyin. In 2011, Agboola was the only PDP senator elected from the South-West geopolitical zone as the then rampaging Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) won in all the other senatorial districts except Ondo State largely controlled by the Labour Party.
Also elected was the incumbent senator representing Oyo Central, Ademola Ayoade Adeseun, who recently defected from the APC to PDP. He polled 52 votes to defeat Mr. Gbenga Olaofe and a former Power Minister, Elder Wole Oyelese, who polled 16 and one votes respectively. Meanwhile, Honourable Mulikat Akande-Adeola, Majority Leader, House of Representatives, has emerged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ogbomoso South/ North/Oriire Federal Constituency. Akande-Adeola, who was the only contestant present at the primaries, emerged winner having scored the entire 16 votes cast by the delegates.
