Seyi Makinde, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, has dumped the party to join Social Democratic Party(SDP). He has also emerged Oyo SDP governorship candidate in the forthcoming 2015 election where he will face the incumbent Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the All Progressives Congress; former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of Labour Party; another former governor in the state, Rashidi Ladoja of Accord Party, and former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin of PDP candidate.
Announcing his decision to join SDP in Ibadan on Monday, Makinde said, “How can this same party(PDP) have a candidate who claims to have been elected with 167 votes which is just about 10 per cent of the total number of delegates after the majority or 1,053 delegates were disenfranchised. I believe in the rule of law, decency and discipline. Justice delayed is justice denied. My moving to SDP has ended my struggle in PDP but the suit that illegalise the primary is still on because the person who filed the suit is still in PDP and ready to go on with it.”
