Popular Ibadan politician dies in car accident

The death has been announced of Honourable Adepegba Adegbenjo, a foremost son of Ibadan, who was until his demise a lecturer in the Department of Estate Management at the University of Lagos. According to reports, he is said to have died yesterday, 23rd December 2014 after complications from a motor accident. Confirming Adegbenjo’s death, Comrade Jeremiah Olatinwo, the Zonal Public Relations Officer (South West), National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS), said the demise of the distinguished academic is a big blow to the students, lecturers, and the university community at large. However,Olatinwo couldn’t confirm the cause of lateAdegbenjo‘s death. Adegbenjo was a member of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007 where he represented Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency on the platform of Alliance of Democracy. The 52-year-old politician-cum-lecturer had clinched the2015 Labour Party ticket for Oyo South senatorial district before his tragic death. He is survived by 2 children.
