Asisat Lamina Oshoala aka ‘Superzee was crowned the ‘Youth Player of the Year’ and ‘Women African Footballer of the Year‘ at the 2014 GLOCAF Awards which held on Thursday, 8th January 2015 in Lagos. The soccer star beat the likes of Desire Oparanozie and Cameroon’s Annette Ngo Ndom to land the top honour. Oshoala has in a Facebook message dedicated the award.
According to her, “I am short of words at the moment, what more can I say. Special thanks to all the coaches I passed through, both national and club side. I dedicate this award to God (Allah) and my TEAM MATES cus without them, there wouldn’t be Asisat Oshoala. Also special thanks to all my LOYAL FANS, God bless you All”.
On her decision to be a footballer, SuperZee disclosed in an interview,”I grew up in Lagos, Ikorodu to be prĂ©cised. I started my youth career in F.C Robo; it was there I noticed my talent as a forward. I made most of my early appearances for the senior national team as an attacker midfielder. Football is my life; I dropped out of school just to pursue my football career. I got my feet into the national team in the year 2011 and my performances brought me offer from Rivers Angel FC, that is how I started my football career.”
