Top South West Politicians Seeking Political Office + The Stories Of Those Contesting For SENATE


His name rings a bell in Ogun State and beyond. Just mention the name Buruji Kashamu and you will be told of the many exploits of this Ogun PDP strongman who has wrestled all the party big wigs to hijack the control of the party structure.


In Ogun PDP, this Ijebu Igbo born businessman controls who gets what, to the anger and chagrin of other big members like OGD, JMK and others. So powerful has Buruji become that he single handedly chose who got the governorship ticket of the party and chose his running mate too. He also chose all the candidates who emerged in Ogun PDP are from his camp Buruji, who is from Ogun East, wants to be the next Senator. His posters and billboards are all over his constituency.


He is to battle the incumbent, Senator Gbenga Kaka of the SDP who is a strong candidate and Dapo Abiodun, the big Oil player who is the APC candidate. It is not easy to predict who will win that ticket eventually.
In Lagos, there is also Solomon Adeola, popularly called Yayi. He is currently a member of the House of Reps but he has upgraded. He is APC senatorial candidate for Lagos West. He has been engaged in stiff battle with PPD’s strong contender, Segun Adewale, popularly called Aeroland.


In Oyo State, the list is equally formidable. In Oyo Central, Oyebisi Ilaka of Accord Party is locking horns with Rt. Hon. Monsurat Sunmonu of APC. Both are to face a stronger contender, Sen. Ayoade Adeseun of the PDP. Elder Wole Oyelese of the SDP is also in the race.


How about Oyo North? Sen. Hosea Ayoola Agboola, popularly called Alleluyah is the incumbent. He is a strong PDP man. To battle him is Abdulfatai Buhari of APC, Christiana Agbegimi of Accord and Ralman Adepoju of SDP.


As for Oyo South, there is Oluyemi Akinola Lanlehin a lawyer who used to be in APC but has now pitched his tent with Accord Party. Taking him on is Ibadan businessman Hon. Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi of APC and the strong woman of Ibadan politics, Mrs Olanrewaju Adedeji Otiti who has just been promoted by the Olubadan in council. (Mni). Murtala Busari of SDP is also running.


In Lagos East, the incumbent Senator, Bareehu Olugbenga Ashafa of APC is running again. Mrs. Olabisi Salis is also contesting with him on the platform of the PDP. As for Lagos Central, the incumbent, Oluremi Tinubu is running on the platform of APC. To battle her in PDP is Dr. Shamsideen Adegboyega Dosunmu, an old timer and former Lagos PDP guber hopeful.


As for Ogun Central, the incumbent Senator, Olugbenga Obadara is running. He came in on the platform of APC but he has since decamped to SDP.


He is being challenged by Prince Lanre Tejuosho, the APC candidate and Dr. (Mrs). Abisola Sodipo-Clark, the PDP candidate. Lagos big boy, Rotimi George Taylor is also running on the platform of UPN.


Ogun West also promises to be interesting. The incumbent, Senator Akin Odunsi is not going back. He has decamped from APC to SDP and he is the governorship candidate of SDP. Olabiyi Otegbeye has stepped into his shoes. He is a lawyer and an Insurance topshot. He is from SDP. Hon Waliu Olayiwola Taiwo of the PDP is taking him on.


How about Osun State?
For Osun Central. We have candidates like Prof. Olusola Adeyeye (63), a PHD holder from the All Progressive, Congres (APC); Mrs. (Princess) Ajibola Adefare (50) from Convention Peoples Party (CPP), She is a WASC holder; Nofiu Kudirat Abeke (F) from Labour Party, she is 62 years old, she is a BSc holder; Mrs. Oluwatoyin Christiana A, a 46-year-old woman from Mega Progressive Peoples party (MPPP), an SSCE holder; Mr. Olayiwola Folami Abideen (50) of Idaho Democratic Party (ID), a BSc holder; Dr. (Chief Oluwole Oludaisi Aina (60) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), MA, PHD; Mr. Agboola David Oladimeji (70) of Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), a Grade 11 teacher; Mrs. Olanrewaju Shade Muinat (37) of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP); Mrs. Babatunde Funmilayo Ajoke (38) from National Congress Party (NCP); Mr. Atilola Folorunsho Bibire(56) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), an MBA holder and Prince Adeleke Adesoji (54) of United Democratic Party (UDP) with Advance Diploma as his qualification.


In Osun East is Chief Fadahunsi Adeniga Francis (62) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he is a BSC holder; Barrister Babajide Christopher Omoworare (46) from All Progressive Congress (APC), he is an LLB, BL holder; Alhaji Rafiu Shehu Anifowose (51) from Convention Peoples Party (CPP), a WAEC holder; Mr. Aduroshakin Olaseye Abimbola (41) of Labour Party (LP), a BSC holder; Chief Babatunde Musa Adetoro (49) of Mega Progressive Peoples Party (MPPP), an SSCE holder; Mr. Adewale Segun Abiodun (36) of National Congress Party (NCP), a GCE holder; Prince Adefare Segun Adegoke (44) from New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), a GCE holder; Mrs. Grace Ojo Fakunade (40) of Progressive People Alliance (PPA) and Mr. Salami Kamoru Olaoluwa (35) of United Democratic Party (UDP), an OND holder.


In Osun West are top players like Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke (59) of the All Progressive Congress (APC), a BA holder; Ogundare Moruff Allan (42), an SSCE holder; Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi (58) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),MA holder; Muriliat Motunrayo Lawal (52) of Convention Peoples Party (CPP), an NCE holder; Ogunlana Edu Romoke (42) of Labour Party (LP); Mrs. Ibrahim Alimot S. (43) of Mega Progressive Peoples Party (MPPP), an SSCE holder; Ayinde Taofeek Olayinka (47) of National Congress Party (NCP); Mrs. Famokun Bukola E. (39) of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP); Ibrahim Jamiu Adeyemi (35), a BSC holder and Mr. Olawunmi James A. (70) of United Democratic Party (UDP), a BSC holder.


In Ondo State, the Senatorial race is stiff. There is Senator Robert Ajayi Boroffice. He is the Chairman Science and Technology and Member of the Committee on Land Transport. Boroffice faced little opposition in 2011 in his bid to become Labour Party candidate for Ondo North Senatorial District, but due to the support of traditional rulers in the Akoko area of Ondo State, he was given the ticket. But on December 28, 2011, he officially decamped to the Action Congress of Nigeria, now called APC to pursue his governorship ambition in 2012. He is currently one of the APC leaders in Ondo. He won the re-election bid for 2015 on the platform APC. There is also Adara Micheal Olusegun Adara will be vying for Ondo North Senatorial seat under the platform of the ACPN.


How about Senator Bode Olajumoke? This Imeri-born was onetime Senator of Ondo North Senatorial district and is currently a member of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] Board of Trustees [BOT]. Olajumoke who hails from Owo/Ose Federal Constituency made some impactful contributions while in as senator. He is the Ondo North Senatorial candidate for PDP.


There is also Chief Donald o. Alasoadura.
This former commissioner for finance during late Gov. Agagu’s administration and 2012 ACN governorship aspirant is the Ondo central senatorial candidate for All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming election. He is one of the grass-root mobilizers and APC leaders in Ondo. Dr. Nelson Abila is also contesting Dr. Nelson Abila is the Ondo North senatorial candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the forthcoming election.


Senator (Dr.) Patrick Ayo Akinyelure is also running. The Chartered banker of over 20 year experience is the Chairman of Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct & Public Petitions and member of the Public Accounts. This Idanre-born politician was in Labour Party before he followed Gov. Mimiko to PDP. So he has been given the 2015 ticket for the senate by his party PDP. Chief Ade Ogunjumelo is the Senatorial Candidate of the UPN for the Ondo North district. Ranti Ola Fawehinmi. He is from the popular Fawehinmi family in Ondo town. He is contesting for Ondo Central Senatorial seat on the platform of NCP. Morayo Lebi: The legal luminary, philanthropist, motivator, visionary leader and academic scholar is from Akotogbo/Ajagbu in Irele Local Government. He is the Chairman of EMEL Oil & Gas Limited, the Principal partner of MorayoLebi & Co and EMEL Multi projects Limited. He is contesting for the Ondo South Senatorial district on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).


Pastor Yele Omogunwa is a member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This former Commissioner for Finance is PDP candidate for Ondo South Senatorial district. Deacon Ajibola Solomon Olufemi will be vying for the Ondo North Senatorial seat on the platform of the CPP.


Gbenga Ojo is Labour Party (LP) candidate for Ondo Central senatorial in the forthcoming election,
Chief Fatoyinbo Jacob Adewale is another senatorial candidate for the forthcoming election. He is eyeing Ondo north senatorial seat under the platform of SDP (Social Democratic Party).


Fehintola Omeka is one of the stakeholders in Labour Party (LP). He is eyeing the Ondo South Senatorial seat in the forthcoming election. Alayo Emmanuel Sunday O is contesting for Ondo Central Senatorial seat under the platform of the CPP in the forthcoming National Assembly election. So also Alexander T. Aderinboye: Aderinboye who will be representing Ondo North senatorial seat under the platform of the SDP in the forthcoming National Assembly election., Engr. Durojaye Owasanoye is another candidate to watch out for, as he will be representing Ondo North senatorial seat under the platform of the LP in the forthcoming national assembly election.


Com. Rotimi Boboye is the candidate to beat in the coming election. He is contesting for Ondo Central Senatorial 
seat. He is the UPN candidate in the forthcoming National Assembly election.


Solomon O. Adebeye is contesting Ondo North Senatorial seat under the platform of the PPA in the forthcoming National Assembly election.


Gbadamosi Funmilayo Esther will be contesting for the Owoose Federal Constituency under the platform of ACPN. Falaiye Akinwale Olugbenga contesting for the Akure South/North Federal Constituency on the platform of Labour Party (LP) while Oloye Ajayi Jeremiah is contesting for the Owo/ose Federal Constituency under the platform of CPP. Tinubu Munirat Folasade is contesting for the Owo/ Ose federal constituency 1 under the platform of PDP. This lawyer cum politician is a grassroot female politician, Chief Olatunji Adebisi is contesting for the Akure South / North Federal Constituency under the platform of UPN


Olowookere Ajisafe is one of the leading candidates contesting for Akure South / North Federal Constituency from the major opposition party. He is running on the platform of for All Progressive Congress.


Lady (Mrs.) Agbayewa Oreoluwa will be representing the Akure South North Federal Constituency 1 under the platform of ACPN for the House of Reps seat.

Oluwaseto Franklin Oluseto:He won the PPA primary election and he is contesting for the Ondo West/East Ileoluyi/Okeigbu Federal Constituency. Barr. Yejide Ogundipe is a lawyer cum politician is the All Progressive Congress candidate for Ileoluji – Okeigbo /Odigbo Federal Constituency.


Akinfolarin Mayo Samuel is the candidate to beat in the Feb. 14th 2015 general election. He is contesting for the Ileoluji – Okeigbo /Odigbo Federal Constituency. He is currently occupying the seat .


Adeodu Lere Joseph is the SDP House of Reps candidate to beat. He’s contesting for Ileoluji – Okeigbo /Odigbo federal constituency.


Akinjo Kolade Victor:He is another grassroot politician from the Riverine area of Ondo State.
