About Ekiti Deputy Governor, DR. KOLAPO OLUSOLA ELEKA

Until 16th October 2014, when his Excellency, Dr. Olusola Eleka was sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State alongside his boss, His Excellency, Dr Ayo Fayose, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State at the Olukayode Stadium, much was not known about this Associate Professor. His Excellency Olubunmi Olusola Eleka was born on the 24th of May 1968 to the family of Elder Joshua Olusola Eleka at Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti South Senatorial District, Ekiti State. He attended St. Matthew Primary School and the famous Annunciation Secondary School (ANCO) both at Ikere-Ekiti before proceeding to bag a Bachelor of Science degree in Building at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 1989. He also went ahead to earn a Master of Science degree in Construction Technology at the University of Lagos, Akoka, Nigeria in 1993 and later a Ph.D. in Building Structures again at OAU. He started his teaching career as Graduate Assistant at Obafemi Awolowo University for 3 years before he became Assistant Lecturer for just three months and he became Lecturer II, the position he held onto for 7 years. In 2000, he became lecture I and in 2004, he rose to the position of Senior Lecture. He spent 20 years of his career at the department of Building at Obafemi Awolowo University. Between 2012- 2014 he was a senior lecturer, Department of building technology, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun state. He has been a member of Nigeria Institute of Building since 1993 and a registered builder since 2005. Until his coming into politics, he was an Associate professor at the Obafemi Awolowo University. Aside his education career, his Excellency, Dr Olusola Eleka is a devoted Christian and one of the Christ Apostolic Church pastor and National leader of C.A.C Student Association. It was his father that was first nominated as Ayo Fayose Deputy in the 2014 election, before he nominated him for the position of the Ekiti 2nd citizen, he was never a politician. But he was quick to adapt to the political style and he is the current Commissioner for Education in Ekiti. He is the second OAU Professor to become Deputy Governor of Ekiti State. His predecessor, Prof. Moji Adelabu was also a product of OAU.
