On Thursday, 5th March 2015, former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo turned 78. As expected, the president will through his spokesman Dr. Reuben Abati send out a congratulatory message in honour of the elder statesman but this didn’t happen yesterday. For unknown reasons, Abati didn’t tweet a line all through yesterday, 5th March but returned in the early hours of today, 6th March 2015 (at about 2.23am) with a tweet-article “President Jonathan extols late Emir of Gusau’s long life of exemplary service to community and country”.
It’s imperative to note that this month, President Jonathan had congratulated RCCG general overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye who turned 73 on Monday, 2nd March 2015. Recall in 2014 when Obasanjo turned 77, the former president had noted Jonathan’s message to him saying, “I want to thank the president of this country because early this morning when I have finished my game of squash and I was preparing, a message came from President Goodluck Jonathan congratulating me on this day of my official birthday”. That there’s no message from the Presidency indicates that the feud between the First Man and the ex-president may have deepened.
