House Keeper jailed after confessing of stealing boss’ property in Yaba, Lagos

A 23-year-old house keeper, Egbe Edward, has been jailed for stealing his boss’ property.

Edward was arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court, Yaba, Lagos, on Friday.

He was saccused of stealing a Toyota Camry, among others, which belonged to his boss, one Magnus Williams.

After committing the crime, Edward reportedly absconded to the Redemption Camp in Mowe, Ogun State.

It was gathered that Edward later felt remorseful and confessed to a pastor at the camp, who contacted Williams.

Williams informed the police at the Sabo Police Division, Yaba, Lagos, and Edward was arrested and arraigned in court on one count of stealing.

The charge read, “That you, Egbe Edward, on July 12, 2015, on Harvey Road, Yaba, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did steal a Toyota Camry, one laptop and one apple i-Pad, valued at N2.8m, property of one Magnus Williams and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 278 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.”

The defendant pleaded guilty.

The magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Erinle, said, “Seeing that the defendant showed remorse for his offence; rather than seven years, I hereby sentence him to one and half years’ imprisonment.”
