In the wake of the increasing massacre by Boko Haram insurgents, immediate past president Dr. Goodluck Jonathan penned a message on Sunday, 5th July 2015 via his verified Facebook page which is liked by 1.87 million people from all over the world.
Within seconds of posting the message, he had closed in on over 500 likes. As of the time of this report, 7:36pm- 7th July 2015, 29,179 people liked the post, and about 4,909 shares helping to spread his condolence and advice in these challenging times.
Goodluck Jonathan’s message was simple – in 74 words!
He sympathised: “The death of any Nigerian at the hands of terrorists is a sad reminder that the war on terror is a task for all Nigerians not just the armed forces.”
He advised: “I urge all Nigerians to continue to pray for peace in Nigeria and to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the government does its best to bring an end to these acts of terror and secure all Nigerians.”
He prayed: “May God bless Nigeria.”
About 9,655 people commented with majority sending goodwill messages to the former president. Of course there were comments that were not in favour of Goodluck Jonathan!
