A Junior Secondary School (JSS 3) student of Burihanudeen UBE School, Isale-Koko Ilorin, Aishat Oba yesterday committed suicide in Ilorin after a disagreement with her boyfriend who allegedly threatened to kill her over an affair with another lover. After this confrontation, 14-year-old Aishat reportedly took a poisonous substance believed to be an insecticide at Ile-Olowo Compound in Opo-Malu Area of the city. After drinking the substance, she was gasping for breath and was rushed to a private hospital and later referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) where she was pronounced dead. Her boyfriend, Rafiu, is on the run, while the second lover was arrested by the police yesterday.
