Wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, has donated 700 cartons of milk supplement for distribution to pregnant women in Adamawa.
NAN reports that the milk was distributed to major hospitals in the state by wife of Adamawa Governor, Hajiya Maryam Jibrilla, on behalf of the President’s wife.
She said the gesture was to support the health care needs of pregnant women in the state and other parts of the North East ravaged by insurgency.
The Presidents wife urged the beneficiaries to accept the gesture with open heart and strive to live a healthy life for the development of their families and society.
“I therefore call for the judicious use of this milk supplement for the improvement of the reproductive health status of our pregnant women,” she said.
She expressed concern over the increasing rate of maternal mortality in the country and urged the Adamawa government to work in synergy with other stakeholders to curtail the problem in the state.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Women Affairs, Hajiya Maisaratu Bello, lauded the wife of the President for her support to women particularly those displaced by insurgency.
Bello recalled that Mrs Buhari had donated food items to women in Mubi, Michika, Madagali and Fufore Local Government areas of the state.
